About FBR (Introduction)
The FBR is responsible for collecting taxes from all citizens and enterprises. Additionally, FBR serves as Pakistan’s primary agency for collecting taxes and gathers information on tax evasion. It also oversees the country’s tax laws for the government of Pakistan. On October 22, 1991, the status of FBR as a Revenue Division under the Ministry of Finance was restored in order to overcome obstacles to the effective development and implementation of fiscal policy measures as well as the exercise of a Secretary to the Government’s administrative functions. However, the Revenue Division was disbanded in January 1995, and FBR reverted back to the pre-1991 position. From December 1st, 1998, the Revenue Division has been in operation.
