About Karachi Port Trust KPT (Introduction)
The government-run Karachi Port Trust (KPT) is a public sector corporation that manages Karachi Port’s operations. It reports to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs but is a Trust that is run by a Board of Trustees that is legally independent from the Federal Government. Karachi Harbour Board was in charge of running the port of Karachi between 1880 and 1887. The Act-IV of 1886 was then passed, going into force on April 1, 1887, and created the Karachi Port Trust.
