About Federal Service Tribunal of Pakistan (Introduction)
In order to have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes involving the terms and conditions of employment for civil servants who are or have been employed by the “Service of Pakistan,” the Federal Service Tribunal was established in accordance with Article 212 of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s 1973 Constitution as well as the Service Tribunal Act. Later, Section 2-A of the Service Tribunal Act, 1973 was added, extending the scope of the Federal Service Tribunal’s jurisdiction to cover workers for authorities, corporations, bodies, and organizations created by federal law as well as those that are owned, controlled, or in which the federal government has a controlling interest. The Federal Service Tribunal initially only had authority over federal government employees who were employed as civil servants.
