About Pakistan Meteorological Department PMD (Introduction)

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) is the country’s national weather forecasting and climate scientific organisation. It was founded in 1947, shortly after Pakistan’s independence, and is based in Islamabad.

Age Restrictions & Relaxation Policy:

The age restrictions for each position are specified in the job posting. However, in accordance with the Government Recruitment Policy, the upper age limit may be relaxed.

  • A three-year respite is offered to candidates belonging to the scheduled castes Buddhist Community, recognised tribes of Tribal Areas, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan for all positions under the Federal Government. Similarly, candidates from Sindh Rural and Balochistan are given a three-year respite for positions in BPS-15 and lower under the Federal Government.
  • Armed Forces of Pakistan officers/personnel who have been released or retired are allowed a 15-year relaxation, while government employees who have completed two years of continuous service on the closing date for receipt of applications are granted a 10-year relaxation. For appointments to positions in BPS-15 and lower, disabled people are given a 10-year reprieve.
  • Finally, widows, sons, and daughters of deceased civil workers who died while on duty are offered a 5-year reprieve. These changes are in place to guarantee that all eligible candidates have an equal opportunity to apply for and be hired by the federal government.
