About Sindh Provincial Buildings Division (Introduction)
The engineering departments for irrigation, buildings, roads, and public health were combined to form the Public Works Department (PWD). However, as time went on, these divisions started to split apart and work on their own, with their own budgets and identities. The Building and Road Department (B&R) was a single organization at the beginning of the 1960s, but it was subsequently split into two distinct departments, each of which was led by a Chief Engineer who reported to the Secretary of the C&W Department.
The department’s name was changed to the Works & Services Department in 2001 as a result of the Devolution. This modification showed the department’s commitment to offering general public services that are effective and efficient.
